Bear Springs Trap

All, I'm pleased to announce that the classic and epic Bear Springs Trap XC is ON!

5-3-25 UPDATE:

Hi, everybody! I hope you can make it to the race tomorrow. This is one last request to pre-register online and race or ride! The weather looks to be sunny and cool, with a high of ~60^! But if you want to make a game-day decision, then there're no worries -- I've waived the day-of fee. (Ideally you'd bring cash or a check -- cell service is poor-to-none, at the venue.)
The Epic and Big XC courses are the same as last year, so the ride files we've shared are good-to-go! I'm on the way back from pre-riding the Big course -- and it looked great! (I'll save the Epic for tomorrow.)
There'll be three well-stocked aid stations -- and lots of free post-race food and drink, too! We have custom medals for top-3 in each category -- and, this year, medals for all finishers! (I hope we made enough -- but that'll be a good problem to have, if not.)
Feel free to camp out tonight -- some of the event crew will be there at the Clear Creek Crossing campground.
If you have any questions, text me at (503) 348-7211. I'll do my best to reply quickly! Thanks for reading.

The snow situation is the best it's been in years, and the weather looks great from here forward. The trails were cleared and updated last year, so expect them to be even better this year!

Expect dry and raw trail conditions along with mild temps. Speaking of weather, the best bet is to check the Pine Grove, OR forecast, but the venue is a zone all to its own! (Do NOT check Gov't Camp weather because it's irrelevant.)

Online pre-registration is open until 2pm on Saturday, May 3. Cost is $50 -- except Juniors for $25 and Fun Riders for $40. (Add $10 for day-of, which is cash- or check-only and closes at 10:00am.)

Registration link is here. A valid OBRA annual or day license is required.

This year we'll have two race courses: the "Epic XC" long course and the "Big XC" standard course. (Course links! Big XC ridewithgps, Epic XC ridewithgps)

The Epic XC is ~28 miles and the same as 2024. The Epic XC race starts at 11am

The Big XC is ~20 miles and the same as 2024. The Big XC is just after at 11:02am

Plus, we'll offer a non-competitive category this year.

The "Fun Ride"  Riders can follow the Epic XC or just the Big XC. (However, they will skip the 4 mile start loop that both courses share.) The Fun Ride starts at 11:02am.

Note that the Epic XC course includes the extra "Keeps Mill" and "Rim Rock" loops. Each loop is a contained circuit that departs from and then re-enters the Big XC course at a specific point.

The top-3 for each category will be awarded custom medals. Cash will also he awarded to the top-3 in the Pro category.

Please note that our permit does NOT allow for e-bikes, this year.

Directionshttps://maps.app.goo.gl/m4ThQeiNs5cuUGpC7. From Portland, take Hwy 26 east toward Maupin, then take Hwy 216; turn left / north just after MP 2 on FS-2130 toward Clear Creek Crossing CG; and follow to staging area.
